Hey, I was wondering if it is possible to learn Chinese while working on HESS contract B, that is morning kindy and afternoon/evening langauge school or will it not be possible?
Is it possible to do a course 1 day a week ect, or, is it a full-time mon-fri sort of thing?
Thanks
p.s. My main reason for coming to tw is not to learn Chinese, but I'd like to learn some. |

| To be more positive, I want to say that a girl who I was working with at HESS studied Chinese. But beware: many find their time completely consumed. It might not be possible, although 1 day a week should be okay. |

Most university classes are Mon - Fri, but it is possible to study once or twice a week. To be honest though, on Contract B you'll be pushed to fit it in. You'll have to do it on the weekend, or try to squeeze it in during the day. And for the first month or so, when everything is hectic and you're still sorting yourself out, it would be pretty unwise to take on more than just your teaching - to start off with, the planning will take up an awful lot of your time.
It can be done, but i'd reccomend getting yourself settled in first. |

I think you would be hard pushed to progress your Chinese at any great speed whilst working at Hess. I think once again, sign up for your 'introductory year' at Hess, take a good look around and make a decision about the long term once you are somewhat settled.
If you are serious about studying Chinese, you may find a higher paying job once in Taiwan with less hours, that will enable you to spend more time studying. |
