A year ago I posted this question, and got some info that was useful, but not definitive.

I haven't been able to trace any other posts here about this issue. I'm wondering if there are any newcomers here who might add something to the story. In particular I'd be interested to hear from anybody with a mainland Chinese spouse who tried to get a visa for her/him while working in Taiwan - any kind of visa at all - tourist, working, dependent etc. Or maybe you heard of someone having some success? Or hopeless failure?
The thing is I have a golden opportunity to possibly land a job at Tamkang University. But my wife is dead against it if she cannot so much as visit me - as you might appreciate.
Any input would be appreciated.
