What has happened to the U of Q posting - pros & cons?
It provided a useful forum for people who need to know the truth about U of Q and its management/mismanagement. There was no need to pull the whole thing because of one or two posters. Yes, one guy told it like it really is. So why not just censor his posting - what about all the other threads with their useful comments? What happened to freedom of speech? Why didn't Dave's just lock the whole discussion topic? or Why not just remove the offensive post? To delete the whole thing? That really stinks. People who surf these sites have a right to know what is going on - helps them make the right decisions about accepting a job offer and lets them know what they are in for. That's why they check the postings. A lot of unfair things are going on at U of Q. Most of the comments are accurate from what I've heard from people who fled - they are not just disgruntled people - they are also disillusioned and fed up.
Probably the head is behind this. Same tactics as 20 years ago. Same trickery then- spying, lurking around watching people. Still the inflexible control freak. When do leopards change their spots? Dave's should put the topic back and just lock it. The head has been there for 20 years but he's fired people who've been around a lot less. Then he has the nerve to imply they've been around too long. That's what one of my buddies was told. So if that is not hypocrisy, what is?
People who are interested in U of Q should know that there is an unfair biased management policy that fired 30% of the staff in one go. The head is known for his ruthless and inconsiderate treatment of people. Teachers should know that the reasons given for this mass firing are hogwash. Good teachers were fired. That's a fact. Why the cover up? The truth of the matter is that most of the comments were con rather than pro. Guess they don't want to screw up their recruitment they need to replace the 30% they fired.
People who comment on Dave's threads comment either because they feel good about a place or because they've faced problems and the problems were unsurmountable or messed up their lives, jobs, etc. Some comments are really thought -provoking and useful insights about a place. Some people want to give warnings and some want to give advice. Fair enough. After all, isn't this one of the functions of this forum? Come on Dave's be fair and reasonble. Put the topic back on and just lock it. Let people read for themselves and decide for themselves. You guys locked one of the Saudi threads. Fair enough. Offer the same consideration for the poor sods at U of Q who have valid grievances and problems. It seems that management at U of Q is the big problem there.
U of Q has problems - maybe they are trying to fix them with Mr. Fix-it whoever that is, but until certain issues are resolved and dealt with, it will never be a healthy work environment. Let people think for themselves. Let people read about what's going on. Give the teachers a voice. People have a right to a voice in a public forum. Be reasonable and democratic. |
