|
|
Hey all,
Just a quick question about visiting Tokyo. My girlfriend and I are coming in early April for 6 days, on a well needed vacation from Taiwan, and we were wondering what the best option is as far as getting a subway/JR rail pass.
When we went to Hong Kong, they have a card that you can purchase with a set dollar amount on it and swipe it every time you enter/exit the subway. If you run out of dollars, its rechargeable.
Does something like this exist for the Tokyo Metro?
Is there one all encompassing card that would work on all the rail systems within the city?
Even better, is there some type of unlimited pass that is available for people who are just visiting?
Thanks in advance for any help! |

There is such a card coming, I forget the release date, for the major private railways, JR, and the subway systems. Currently we have combined value cards for the subway and private rail (the name is passport I think, with a walking man on it), but the JR card is a seperate one (SUICA). |

From 3/18, the PASMO swipe card will work on JR, the Tokyo Metro, and most lines around the Tokyo metro area. I would assume you'll be able to buy it at the Narita airport JR and Keisei stations. The mascot is a pink robot. You can also use it for purchases in shops near stations.

Thanx Chinagirl, I thought it was starting later. They have been advertising it in the subways, though I don't take the subway much recently. |
