|
|
Hi all
Good news - soon there will be a new paper in Ekaterinburg, Russia, called The Outlander.
If anyone is keen on writing something for them, let me know!
It's only going to be published in Ekaterinburg, but if you write, I'll make sure you get a copy, wherever you are.
Cheers

Hi! What kind of articles are they looking for?
So what kind of readership is this newspaper aimed at? |

The paper is not mainly for news and is not a magazine. News can be read in Russian newspapers. There will be discursive topics and international events in the city, etc, etc.
The readers will be anyone who can read English, and probably those whose English is really poor will still try to get a copy.

I am in Moscow, but I might be interested in writing culture articles. What are you looking for? |

Hi all
Thank you very much for your replies and PMs. There were many and I truly appreciate the interest that was shown.
The next part of this post is less positive - the newspaper will not go ahead. At least not soon. After gathering articles and journalists and even paying advertisers, the cogs stopped turning at the design phase, with our designer stepped out. Next, we hit many bureaucratic snags which limited the number we could print, even though we tried bribing...
Anyway, to cut a long story short, it's not happening. I must say that a paper of some sort is definitely possible, but with the short time left here I'm not going to make another push for it. Ekaterinburg is definitely ready for it though.
Best regards

Just an update on this, the first English newspaper in Ekaterinburg DID start, last year in November. We've had an issue every month since then.
Please mail me on [email protected] anytime you like with stories and to get in touch, to write for the paper or anything else you might like to know. |
