Can anyone tell what I require to wire transfer money from Japan to Canada. I have been living in Korea and know the procedure there (ie.passport, or ID etc. maximum $10 000 USD per visa) but am unclear about what to do in Japan. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks.

You can wire money from a bank, from a post office, or directly from Lloyds.

Banks will charge 5000 yen per transfer. Don't know about post offices, maybe 2500 yen. Lloyds will charge 2000 yen.

Bring your money, the bank transfer details, and your passport.

Try doing at least a BIT of legwork -- the people on this forum are helpful, but honestly -- you're pushing your luck when you a) ask a question that gets asked by n00bs at least once a week, b) ignore the advice you DO get, c) expect to be hand-held throughout the whole procedure. For goodness sake, you've already lived abroad in Korea! Surely you have developed enough know-how to do a bit of reading.

Jim aside, to those who did respond, again, I do appreciate your help and feedback. The links you posted were very useful. What I am unclear on is whether I require a Japanese bank account ,a work visa, resident ID etc. inorder to wire money. (for example, can I walk into a bank with 10 000 USD and wire it home if I am in the country on a visitors visa).

Anyways, for the likes of Jim and others who feel the need to preach on the use of search functions, the a, b, and c's of why I need to do legwork, that I've lived in Korea and should have devoloped some Know-how, all I got to say is.. get a life dudes. Just looking for some info on bank transfers. No need to get your panties all in a twist.
