Have you looked into the ESL Teacher Certificate Program offered at the U of W? It's offered through the Continuing Eduction division and runs from end of May to mid July. It's about 2 grand, but you'll also be receiving univeristy credit for the courses you take.

Thanks for showing me the link. Right now it is out of my price range and the fact that it is between May and July is not good for me because that is when I work to pay for my tuition. I am thinking though of taking it after I come back to Canada (I would probably be teaching abroad for a few years but not permanently, at least now I think this way), b/c eventually I would like to become an EAL teacher. I went to the high school where I am currently volunteering with EAL learners, the principal told me that going abroad for a while is not a bad idea, looks good on resume.
