No, no! DNK wrote that he/she would prefer to choose where to go, but also "at least so that I am not in the middle of a metropolitan area". JET puts most of its ALTs in rural areas, so there you are! Since so many choose large cities, that's where the competition lies, and if you ask for a rural location, you just may have it handed to you easily.

No, no! (Or should that be, 'Yes, yes!'?):

Cool

My advice, and I am a novice, but my common sense tells me and experience knowing that stress doesn't help a thing says:

Just go on the internet to all the various internet sites mentioned and make sure your resume and cover letter look good and apply, apply, apply and then wait and see what happens.

Much better than stressing about details. Going to this conferance, buying this plane ticket..... Taking some sort of action can really alleviate anxiety.

I am in the US and this approached worked for me and now I have a job and work visa all worked out to start in May...and i started sending out my applications in beginning of March.

Yeah I agree. Right now I'm on a resume carpet bombing spree. With a good resume, cover letter, and a head on my shoulders at least one company should find me appealing. While I wait, I am working and saving money so I have it in case I need it when I get to Japan for whatever reason. Also I am reaserching the cities in which the schools I send my Resume to are so that I can know what to expect in case I get the green light. Gotta pack your parachute before you skydive, baby. It's all about preparation.

BTW, congrats on the job Tricia.
