This is not true. Nor is there a limited number of 3 year visas.

After seeing one-year stamped (again) on our passports, we went up to the Question/Answer area, filled out a form and asked about the 3-year rule. The Officer told us, "It just depends...". Then he went on about how the 1st and 2nd year, they usually give 1-year visas, but if a person is working at the same place and filling out forms in the same fashion for the 3rd time, they often give a "3-year" visa, that 3rd year. (Key words here "usually" and "often"...was he just trying to make me feel better?)

Both the guys I work with had this happen to them on their 3rd year, they both got 3-year visas. ?? Who knows. It sounds like several of you have gone year after year after year--still seeing 1-year stamped.

We did our Immigration duty 2 weeks ago and are waiting for the postcard, so we'll see. I wouldn't say our smiles helped--but probably doesn't hurt!
