If you get it can they deny you a Visa renewal if you are already in the country?

How would they know you had it? There is no health check requirement for a visa extension.

Because one of my dumb-ass students announced tonight that his coworker is being tested for some pretty nasty strain of it (which has progressed to some form of cancer) and that he has to be tested for it later this week. If it turns out he's also infected, then I and my coworkers and his classmate will have to get check-ups twice a month for the next two years.

I don't know, is that something they could find out with a bit of digging?

I was nice of him to turn up to class and expose you too! I honestly think there are students in this country who believe thinking should be done by other people and will continue on in their own routines obliviously.

Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about, as far as the visa is concerned, as it won't appear on any of the documents that you need to submit for your visa.

I think I'd be more worried about having the disease than my visa. Having that said, I dont think you will have much to worry about in terms of catching it or the visa. even though it is an airborn disease, it takes quick a bit of exposure over a prolonged period of time. I only know this because my friends mother worked at a TB clinic. A few encounters in a classroom probably wont harm you.

TB does not progress into cancer. Read up on TB.

Well, I tried to read up on it and didn't find anything like that, but I'm just telling you what this guy told me. I'm in English teacher, not a doctor, so I'm not gonna automatically know stuff like this.

I also like it when they wear one of those masks out on the street so nobody catches anything off them, and then they take it off when they're sitting three feet away from you for an hour or so.
