Well, I went ahead and signed onto the dotted line again, much as I anticipated that I wouldn't. However, I'll be honest, it was the money offer. I won't tell you exactly how much, but I will tell you that a sizeable post-tax raise was offered as well as overtime (which I really pushed for this time). In addition, my school really, REALLY wants me to stay long term, so they've offered (in writing and stamped - - yeah, yeah, I know) a vice-director position to me should I stay and teach for two more years (with a 5% increase in pay next school year {2008-09}).

Don't get me wrong - - I enjoy my job well enough and I also enjoy my brood well enough - - all the money in the world wouldn't convince me to stay if I simply hated my job. But, I will say again how wearying China is and I've set some definite (?) goals and timelines for my remaining tenure here.

But the money is sweet too . . . . Smile

Yes it is, thank you.

Dafe's is becoming a negative poo house for me on all the horror stories, aside from the generic useful information that is great to get a hold of and the friends I've made here. But the stories are usually either about bad experiences and/or pissy people that can't handle a different situation.

I guess you get more complainers because they need an outlet. It is refreshing to get the other end, so yes thanks!
