Wht do you consider to be good?

A good salary?
Chance for advancement?
Training sessions?
Vacation / Time Off?
Work environment?
Legal work visas?

I thought the BC was a decent place to work for.

They've got a decent rep all over- but I knew people who worked there in Barcelona, and I can vouch for that one as good.

Best,
Justin

The one in Istanbul was closed for security reasons probably a good thing as there was lots of snobbery and holier than thee attitude.

BC (in my experience) great for training etc not so good for money....although getting a pension underway is a sort of bonus (and a step on the road to becoming a 'grown up' - yikes........)

So why bother asking about BC?

I thought they were hated because they weren't that bad a place to work for.

A teflers envy is generally in inverse proportion to his earnings.

No. Look at BC in KSA-9000-1100 SR, 1 flight a year, 6 weeks holidays a year, split shifts, no kids schooling-the money has been the same for 10 years. BC Bahrain-740 BD, UAE 9-10 000 Dirhams, Doha and Kuwait much the same.

British Council in the Gulf is not good for local hires; better than the shadier language schools, and a reasonable short-term option, but not a career.

The British Council has long worked a dual salary scale; those hired from the UK have comfortable salaries and pensions, independent of where they teach; those hired locally have salaries based on local wages - they are at the top end of the local scale but nothing to write home about.

I presume the salaries would be reasonable in somewhere like Spain and Turkey (in Sri Lanka they are actually tempting).
