I've just got a job offer in my inbox from an outfit called 'Bluwater Education', based in Shanghai.
Googled and Yahoo-ed them but came up with nothing.
Have you heard of them?
Their intro reads:
Quote: |
The centre was established in December 2005 and currently has 119 students aged 16 to 18 spread over six classes, with student numbers increasing to 270 in September 2007. CIE syllabuses for A Level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Business Studies and Economics are strictly followed, and all teaching material and resources are ordered from the UK, Singapore or Hong Kong. For extra curriculum activities the students are encouraged to take part in various clubs and voluntary work. |

My guess is that they are recruiters who are new to the China market hence the lack of information about them.
They have a website here http://www.bluwatereducation.co.uk/ which I guess that you have seen and from that it seems that they are based in the UK. The Shanghai connection is likely an individual or perhaps a past placement who is now helping to recruit teachers into China.
They also seem to advertise under the name Amooran Education.
From your post you seem to be under the assumption that they are a school themselves, but I think that you will find that they are recruiters.
To me the question is what can they offer you that you can't do yourself? If they are a registered recruitment company here in China then there is some degree of protection there but if they are not then there isn't.
If you are happy with the service that they are providing and you want to go through them then I guess that there is no compelling reason not to, but I would want to know what the name of the school is that they want you to teach in and then research that. Check the location. Check the numbers of hours, numbers of students etc. Check the accomodation that they are offering. Speak with past placements especially any teachers that they placed in China. Ensure that the position offers a Z visa.
Or just find a job yourself with a school directly, or contact a recruiter with a more established reputation. |
