I need a physical for employment purposes and don't know where to start getting an appointment besides randomly calling up the American Hospital.

Any suggestions on how to find a doctor?

This post has been edited for complete, rigid political correctness and so as not to offend Sheikh Inal Ovar.

The German hospital has got English speaking doctors. It costs 50ytl for a check up. I use the Yunus Emre hostipal in Uskudar which is quite good.

Hello Turkophiles (perhaps Turkophobes may be better suited to this board)

What is it with all your references to people being anti-Turkey or anti-Istanbul .. you shouldn't confuse people's attacks on unscrupulous TEFLer employers as attacks on the country ... that would be silly ...

Most of us here are old timers who love the place and many are married to Turks ... let's see what your fellow JETTers are like ...

Besides actually speaking to the doctor, I suppose you could conduct an IELTS oral examination ...

You should have seen the PM sent by Miss (not likely to be Mrs) Heathergray ... it's not a physical examination she needs from the doctor ... it's a catlaklari bulan muayne ...

Lay off Sheikh. What's the point of flaming people here? I've been reading her posts, too, and haven't felt her to be prejudiced or ignorant. Read into it what you will, but I think you're being unnecessarily harsh.

Ah. Twice I had to get a medical in Istanbul for my Saudi visa. A nightmare - although it all worked out in the end.

My instructions were helpfully listed in 15 points. I remember managing to decipher everything on the instructions - except for point 15. This was the Turkish for 'On no account are these 14 documents to be stapled together.'

Lay off what .. after two references to the anti-Turkish whiners on this board, which still puzzles me, I really don't think my first post above was rude ... I did however think the PM was a rather exaggerated response to it ... something which you haven't read ... and something about which you therefore cannot comment ... and anyway, judging by your recent encounter with thrifty, you're in no position to talk about playing the apostle ...

If people want to try and dish it out, they should be able to try and take it back at them ... even in the baby doses handed out above ...

My recent encounter with Thrifty? The one where I was trying to make the point that one doesn't have to BS about the problems with ET when there are enough real issues?

Thrifty is now a swear word? Goodness, doesn't language change quickly? Can Thrifty be a gerund? If so what does thriftying involve?

He did, actually. The mods showed up at my home and beat me with a wiffle-ball bat.
