Is it possible for Canadians to cross into the new economic zone across the border in North Korea yet? I haven`t heard much lately about it and wondered if the Hong Kong of NorthEast Asia plan has been shelved. Anyone in Dandong? What`s the city like? |

Its like any other city in China, but you have a view of North Korea across the River. Not far north is a mountain called Pheonix mountain that is an exciting climb. |

YOu mean whether you could visit the SEZ Sinuju? Sorry, the initiator is in jail now.
Chinese-born, Dutch-naturalised Yang something made some miscalculations both in business as well as in politics. He poured money into HOLLAND VILLAGE in Shenyang, but could not pay up all his contractors since there were too few takers for his luxury manors in imitation DUtch style.
THen he became appointed as governor of Sinujy by North Korea's Great Leader himself, which annoyed the red czars in Peking who promptly had Mr Yang detained, and in a quick trial he was sent to prison for 8 years.
I guess you must shelve your travel plans for some time.
My best bet is to wait for Kim the Greatest's abdication! |

It wasn't the the relationship with NK that was the problem, but rather with the mayor of Shen Yang who was given the death penalty. |

So, I guess it`s not presently possible to get a visa to travel to Sinuiju at the border. If you want a visa for that part(or any part of North Korea) it must be had in Beijing, right? |

There is a North Korean Consulate in Shen Yang. You can get a visa there. |
