I realize most people do the opposite, but I have the possibility of getting a car here in Mexico, and would like to drive into the US so I could visit friends in Texas and California. Has anyone ever bought a car in Mexico and taken it to the US? Any idea how many taxes, etc. Id have to pay. I'm assuming it isnt even worth it...

I have driven to the US from Mexico in a Mexican car...this was years ago, but I don't think much has changed.

You have to be the owner of the Mexican car. Just have your ownership papers with you and head to the border. No formalities, but you do need to buy insurance. You can keep the car for a set period in the US without registering it, can't remember if it is 180 days continuous or 365 days continuous.
