Cool greetings:

Can one (or more) of you please inform me as to what this registration entails? Should a new NET bring additional documentation in order to satisfy this stipulation, or is NET Scheme participation enough "proof"?

thank you.

Section 42 of the Education Ordinance stipulates that any person who teaches in a school has to be either a registered teacher (RT) or a permitted teacher (PT). Therefore, schools should make sure that their NETs have applied for teacher registration. For further enquiries, please contact the Teacher Registration Team of the EMB on 2520 0325 or 2520 0356.

When I came to Hong Kong, the EMB applied for this on behalf of NETs.
This situation has now changed and having seen my spouse go through this process, this is my knowledge of the process:

The registration body will want to see ORIGINALS of all your documents (degrees and teaching certificates and transcripts of results for same, evidence of teacher registration in your home country and evidence of teaching practice - even if your home country didn't issue these when you did your teaching degree or certificate, you will still need to apply to get something in writing)

They will make copies after seeing the originals.

You will need to fill in the application form and submit this with your docs. Processing time may be 4-6 weeks.
