Hello,

Has anyone knowledge about this school, either gained through direct or indirect experience? I am contemplating an offer for interview but need to be sure that they are as reputable as they seem.

Isn't it what the interview is for? You can learn a lot from an interview, and ask many questions, not to mention get contacts of other foreign teachers working there.
Interview does not mean a job offer, perhaps they'll not offer you the position after all?

In other words.... no, I don't know anything about this school:))
Cheers

No, that's not what an interview is for. An interviewer is going to protect his school's reputation, only giving you the saccharin/prozac version of reality.

I think the Original Poster is going about things in the right way: asking online for some uncensored/unfiltered opinions of the school.

Perhaps you are right. Still, I'd imagine that this inquiry may be more applicable when getting a job offer, rather than an offer for an interview.
I did 10 interviews before finding a job. It is easy to learn many things about school from the interview. If the school employs other teachers, it is possible to get their contact information. Admittedly, in that aspect it's not as easy in Thailand as it is in Koreat, as seldom do teachers seem to ask for this piece of information in LOS.
Anyway, good luck.

Thanks for your comments.

All jobs that I have applied for and secured in the UK decide upon the successful candidate by the end of the day. Perhaps the process is different abroad? Of that I have no experience.

During the course of a quick tour around a school it isn't always possible to find out the nitty gritty of what really actually goes on. The impression that a school presents on any particular day may bare no resemblance to reality. That is why I am trying to gather valid and reliable information, ideally the result of direct experience, rather than leave it to chance on the day.

Consider also that, for an appointment abroad, the interview is likely to be in the UK....no chance to even see the school first hand. All the more reason to want to do my homework.

I see. I was under the impression that you were in Thailand. If that's not the case, then I understand. I found a job in Korea while living in Canada, so it's somewhat similar in that sense. I did ask for contact info of other teachers working in that school, as often a conversation with the foreigners working in that school gives a better perspective of the school, it's environment, etc.

In Thailand, as I understand it, usually you have to be there already to find a good job, or at least have better opportunities, as schools here seldom hire from abroad.

I used to work in Thailand and the school you refer to is considered one of the most reputable, alongside Bangkok Patana.

They are likely to offer a good salary package (among the best in the city), employ quality teachers and take PDP seriously.

As I said, this is just my general opinion, not personal experience.

Basically, if one were to consider working in Bangkok, Shrewsbury would be top of your list. Don't worry and good luck!

Thanks, Steve. That is much as I thought but I am reassured by your own view of the school. Many thanks.
