Adorabilly,
I mean Dhs 80,000 for a family with four or more kids.

Did your wife notarize her credentials or she will do it in UAE?

Just a bit of advice. If your employer requires your degrees to be certified (and fortunatley not all of them do because it is quite meaningless), have it done in your home country. It takes forever and costs a fortune to have it done back home once you are in the Gulf.

When I got my HCT offer in 1997, for the family visa I had to get my kid's US Consular birth certificate certified by the State Department. The original consular certificate was not good enough--it had to be attested as an "Apostille" and it has a large red ribbon affixed to it and it looks like the credentials of an Ambassador at Large and Plenipotentiary Extraodinaire.

No-one has replied about UAEU UGRU.

The salary system is opaque. New teachers still get more on appointment than established teachers but no-one wants to admit how much more. There was a pay rise for all in April (500dhs, wow!) and some got merit pay then too. Anyone care to clarify?

Benefits: annual airfares for teacher + spouse + up to 3 (I think) children
Health insurance scheme
Unfurnished accommodation identified by UAEU, allowance is 50K? or 55K? Less than HCT Al Ain. Again, rather opaque.
Amortisable furniture allowance dhs30K married/family dhs25K single
Terminal gratuity of 1 month salary a year, but they lose part of the gratuity if they give less than 6 months notice of resignation
They pay for their own residence visas
Local school fees - not sure of limit
Vacations - about 60 days in the Summer and 2-3 weeks in January, see calendar on UAEU web-site
