In light of the "Z Visa and Health Check" thread, I should say this:
I came to China in 2003. I had a health exam in America and then another in China in '03. Since then, I've never had another health exam required by the authorities (had a couple that I got on my own, but it was never required for a residence permit or anything). Anyone think that's out of the ordinary? I read on here that some people even had a "health certificate" booklet that was required to be updated each year. For me, though, I never had anything like that. Was never required.
Anyone think that's weird? |

The same. Two stints over five years, but only two medicals.
Maybe they're only interested in "foreign" diseases. |

My one and only medical to satisfy visa and working regulations was in 2001. I have been here since 1995 - 6 years on 'F' visas, and on 'Z' / Residents permit since 2001. The only other medical I have had was one year ago, and that was a routine annual medical paid for by the company for ALL its employees - Chinese and foreign. |

I had one done in 2003 in Qingdao, and another one done in 2004 in Dalian. I didn't have to do one in Huhhot because I'd had one done in Canada before going there. I just showed the medical authorities a copy (or was it the original?) of the Chinese-government-specified medical exam form. I didn't have one done last year when I moved from Huhhot because I'd already had a FEC and valid RPF. |

And these are the new rules that specifically went into place at the beginning of 2006...the problem, being, however, not all schools and not all FAOs and not all PSBs are aware of them. |

I've had to get a medical every time I have changed cities. I recently moved to Zhejiang province and even though my visa had not expired yet, I was required to get a medical here right away. In Zhejiang they give you this little book with your medical results, in Jiangsu they never had anything like that. |

I believe you when you say you never got one, but I have worked for 3 schools over 4 different years in the same province, and did not get it every time. I have been told by my waiban that they need to keep it until I showed them the page that says I need it on my posession whenever I travel especially when I leave the country. |
