Hello all,
I wonder if any of you have dealt with the recruiters American Language Institute who are located in Chiba? If yes, what was your experience? What are some reasons as to why Westerners want to teach and live in Japan? Is anyone familiar with Hofu city in the Yamaguchi region? Comments?

Thank you,
Larry

A real mixed bag of questions, Larry! I'll only be able to deal with the second one.

Let's start by turning the question back on you. Why do you want to do it?

As for others, the reasons vary considerably.

1. burnout in current job
2. thrill of traveling
3. allure of exotic Japan
4. attraction of "easy money" by TEFL
5. women/men from Japan
6. little promise of advancement or betterment in current job
7. eagerness to change from ESL or other teaching to TEFL
8. many more

If #8 includes 'on the run from the law', then I'm... umm, I mean....

Nevermind.
