What should i bring with me from the states, anyone need me to bring them something they cant get in Indonesia, but want me to bring with me, what about computers should i bring my laptop or leave at home. Forget toilet paper, bring loads of American sized and strength condoms. I'm serious.
Go directly to Jalan Jaksa and stay there. Meet English teachers and spread the word you're looking for work. (And treat us to some beer if you like... )
I did the above 10 years ago and was working within a week. Networking is still the way to get work. |

Goodness me!
Christopher needs to learn grammar and how to write a proper sentence
before teaching anyone English! |

Anyone can make a typo or a spelling mistake, and many users here write postings in between doing various other tasks on the computer - but I have to agree that the OP is not exactly selling himself as a new teacher of English. |

..... i got this strange feeling that you might not have many other options
and for no other reason than curiosity, why did you choose to "bold" tefl certificate? |

I have to agree with the writer who commented on grammar and spelling.
It's all very well hitting the wrong key at times, but not whole words!!
If you're going to teach English, remember that some of the older students will pick you up on wrong words and such things. |

[color=darkred]Pardon Me!!!! I didn't Know I was taking a Cambridge Exam , if grammer is what you look for in a post than perhaps that's all you read. So I suppose no one read the post , but rather shot it down. As being such, I shall remove myself from posting further.

I guess you didn't read my reply to your post. If you're going to post on internet forums, don't be so sensitive...this is no place for the faint of heart or thin skins. |

Haha! Wow! Touchy!! Anyone ever heard about patience (and technical accuracy) being one of the chief virtues in a teacher? Won't get far in Indonesia all round with that attitude, mate! |

I think that some posters can be a little too quick to criticize the occasional grammatical/spelling error. In those cases, I think people are probably just using whatever they can against a poster with whom they've previously argued. Anyhow, typos and stupid mistakes are committed by the best of us.
However, even when a fully-literate person writes relaxedly, I doubt they write as poorly as in the first post. It's alarming that people who have any less than a high command of their native language would be searching for teaching jobs.
And, "as being such?" Attempts at fooling people into believing that you really are more than semi-literate, by adding in these semi-coherent, yet pretentious, phrases into your next post, are beyond obvious. |

first of all let me admit that i have been drinking alot over the last few nights .... BUT, i could have sworn that i read different posts on this thread when i logged in this morning to the ones i'm reading here, now. i'm pretty sure i put one on here myself
i'm actually starting to worry, did i post it on here or did i just think about posting it??....cripes, i'll never drink bali hai again.
if i didn't post it and infact only thought of posting it, what i wanted to say was that i think we were being a little hard on the guy. sure, some major errors were made in what should have been a simple request for info. personally, i didn't really understand the nature of the OP but did get a few giggles from it. either way, lets move on shall we. we all made our points.
and travworld, me thinks you should relax a bit. you'll find that this forum likes to bark, but it won't bite. ( did anyone notice how i incorporated dogs into my post??.....that was for you paps) |

well, that kind of stuff is gonna happen when you disrespect the beef....
seriously though, i never had any "edge" to lose. nor could i get any softer. i have watched "seabiscuit" 6-7 times now and stilll cry every time. right at the part where he is racing war admiral and does his breakaway around the last turn. ( my eyes are starting to get watery just thinking about it...seriously)
what a movie......what a horse.
....excuse me... i've got something in my eye..... |
