I'd love to hear from anyone who has been to, or taught in Gifu. A job posting is from a company called Lets English, I believe they are in Britain and i don't know exactly which school they're hiring for. So any general information on Gifu would be appreciated
thanks

Lived and worked there for 5 years overall.
In general, I very much enjoyed it, but then I absolutely despise cities and the urban life anywhere. Lots of "countryside" or "inaka" as the Japanese say. Very much forced to learn Japanese as I was the only "gaijin" most times. No one in my office spoke a word of English my last 3 years.
There are enough choices to keep you sane: ie -- shopping for food, books, etc. Movies, video rentals fine. Yanagase in Gifu City is a HUGE entertainment district, the largest concentration of bars in all of Japan.
Train service to Nagoya is often and cheap enough.
What town/city are you going to in Gifu?
Lovely students (I taught in the public system) other than the high schools |

Gifu has some stunning scenery and great skiing in the winter. Gets tons of snow. It can also be extremely hot and humid in the summer. It regularly tops 35 in August and is often on the local news for some city there being the hottest of the day.
The bottom of the prefecture is mostly urban sprawl though and so there are great contrasts between urban and rural areas. Would very much depend on where you are going as to what you will experience.
