Prince Fahad bin Sultan University, in Tabuk.

http://www.thesjobs.co.uk/rs6/cl.asp?action=view_ad&ad_id=36952

Job ad was also printed in Arab News two weeks ago.

So seems like this is a new university, and is being established with assistance from AUB (American Uni of Beirut).

I was thinking of applying. Is it a good idea, considering that new universities in this country are highly disorganized and frustrating to work in? But I was thinking, if AUB is helping them set up, AND doing the recruiting, maybe it will be a lot more professional than other private universities (in KSA) were when they were established... Question

Deadline is after 2 days!

BTW, for those who have been, how is Tabuk? How would it compare to, say, Ha'il, as that's the only small city I have experience with in KSA? I am talking in terms of size, availability of amenities, getting around, etc.

AUB has been involved with a some start-ups that... shall we say did not go well in the UAE. AUS was moved over to management by American University in the US (no relation to AUB or AUC). There were also many problems at Sharjah University. The number one problem was that hiring priority in EFL went to new AUB graduates... you know how that goes... the new grads who haven't actually taught but know EVERYTHING... Cool

If you are Lebanese or Arab, it would be an advantage for you in the hiring. But it will still be the usual start-up chaos I would assume.

You mean you'll get a better class of wasta and nepotism.

It's nearer the frontier.

Anybody else applied?

Anybody got a response? It has been 2 weeks, and I haven't heard from them yet.

In my ex-college if they want to punish a teacher they will send him to Tabuk, Hail, Arar, or the empty quarter of saudi desert. Laughing

The majority of American Universities in the Arab world are controlled by the Lebanese, and even for the other Arabs it is difficult to infiltrate the Lebanese-Bush ring of these universities!
Just check the web site of these universities, and you will notice that the majority of staff are graduated or associated with AU in Washington, AUB, AUC, AU.in whatever country!
