I'm moving to Israel next week from the US to work on a Master's degree at Tel Aviv University. I'm also looking to be a private English tutor a few hours a week. Has anyone here ever lived there and done this? I'm looking for any advice I can get as far as books to use (I'm looking to teach all ages), ways to advertise, what to expect, etc. Thanks! |

Tutoring English in Israel can be quite lucrative. For native speaking teachers with experience working with children, 100 shekels is a typical asking rate per hour. That's around $20.00/hour.
Eric Cohen Books, and UPP are two English text book publishing companies in Israel. You can look over their texts at their Raanana location, and then just tell the parents which text book you'd like them to purchase for the kids to use. You may also check and see if they just want to use their regular school text book. I find that it offers lots of inspiration for English enrichment activities.
Hope this helps. Good luck. |
