Although I've been working in China for the past 2 1/2 years I have never worked for an agency.
I have been offered a job from a company based in Beijing. My question is, for those with experience with agencies, is if they process my paperwork in Beijing i.e fec and rpf am I working legally, in say jiang su province? I am aware Beijing is the stand alone capital and not part of any province. They have over 80 foreign teachers working for them in various provinces around china but I understand they take care of visas in Beijing, how is this possible? From what I gather each province governs themselves and ones paperwork should be issued from the provincial government in whatever province one happens to be teaching in.
Would appreciate any insight, thanks.

Maybe they are located in Beijing, but they have branches throughout China and those branches are responsible for taking care of FTs' visas?

It depends on what the Resident's permit says; surely if it is issued in Beijing it also is valid (only) in Beijing... working in a different province is thus illegal.

But it could be they get your permit issued for your place of work. I doubt it, though.

and according to what I have read...a employer can send you to a different location than the location for which you were hired as long as the employer has a legitimate right to employ in that Provence.
for example a chain losses a employee and the boss wants you to fill in.
I have worked in Dalian with a (at that time) FEBook and red book...simply registered at the local PSB and all was good. I did not receive my new paperwork for 4 months and then the local PSB and Labor Department decided I should have a local one but did not have the books so they went to Shenyang and applied to the PSB there...after that I worked in Dalian under a Shenyang registration.

Is the name of the company called AITA or AITI?

The only problem with the arrangement you mentioned is when there is a problem or if you work extra periods.. Then the communication between the school and the agency is likely one where you do't get paid on time or the correct amount..

The school will never be able to solve the problem cause the agent is the go to person.. so if you prefer solving a local problem by using your long distance agent.. well.. Its a matter of Choice..
