I'm trying to find a distance learning MA program that is not SO expensive and would give me a bit of an advantage over another applicant not having such a credential for a college job...

I've looked into Birmingham and it seems like a reputable place but I'm not ready to invest the time nor money for that degree.

Aston has a Diploma in Professional TESOL Studies that is worth 40 credit hours toward the MSc in TESOL.

Would this diploma help me with getting a uni job or is it a, "have all or nothing" type mindset with unis in Japan? In other words, "having the 'DIPLOMA' in TESOL is nice but we're looking for a COMPLETE MA" type mindset?

Is the diploma geared toward teachers who simply want to improve their craft or tackle some new ideas on teaching and the Masters a more comprehensive course of study on TESOL?
