It's quite obvious in China that for the most part adminstrations try to minimise boat rocking activities and would even rather leave it until graduation time to tell students thay have failed! So, in situations where similar things to this have happened to me I give the class the option of having the offender/s leave or me leave. I usually quietly pack my books and leave the class, informing the monitor to come and get me when things have been ... resolved. I was doing the roll in class the other day and a strange face popped up. Asked her who the hell she was and the guy next to her said it was his girlfriend. I asked him who made the decision for her to be in class to which there was no response! Asked the girl if she could speak English, which she couldn't, so I told her any time in my class would therefore be a waste of time and that if she wished to stay she could take the class and I would leave. She left!

he was paying me back for kicking one of his buddies out of class and refusing to allow him back in for calling me a F**** laowai. I did just try and get him to go home to sober up and there would have been no problem - but his limited english would not let him recognize the fact that I was not trying to give him shit. It wasn't until he became obnoxious and aggressive that I tried to give him the boot.
When he refused to leave, I left. I do not know what his punishment has been yet but I will find out in another month. It was probably just a slap on the wrist and a 'you are a bad boy - don't do it again'

Surely the chinese staff would have sorted it out.. if not, that is strange.

But yes in your case, that was a good idea. You could have added 'You can all thank 'him' for ruining the class'
