Not quite.
The c***roaches in my kitchen are evidence, not only of my poor housekeeping skills, but of the fact that I do spend money on food now and then. |

| How much do you pay for domestic help in Riyadh?? Are there any Arabic speaking maids or nannies? |
You might get a Philipina/Banghali/Indian about SR350 - SR500 a month.
It is difficult to find Arabic speaking nannies!

Cleo, I thought you have at least 2 maids, one for the morning cleaning, and the other for the afternoon cleaning!
Why not get a maid once a week, to clean your flat, for just SR50!
Good deal, Cleo, if you want I can send you my maid Mansour for just SR30 (special price for you), but with a condition you teach him a little bit of English. |

Assuming a full-time exclusive maid, that's a degrading sum to pay to anybody, no matter where they are from, and is mostly the domain of the Saudis [to pay that much], and even then, they withold it for months at a time. I am going on a tangent here...
My point is, I hope that at least us educated people would pay a lot more than that if hiring a full-time maid. If I were to ever do it--which I would never--I would pay at least SR. 1,000.
I used to have a Filipino lady come to my compound unit TWICE a week, for 2 hours each time, and I gave her SR. 200/month (that's what she charged). She used to go around a few houses, so I am sure she made at the very least 1,500 in total.
Also, in general, if talking about full-time maids, Filipino ones usually charge more than the Indian/Bangladeshi/Indonesian/Sri Lankan ones. Most Saudi families have one from one of those 4 countries (with the highest proportion from Indonesia), and pay them around 300-700/month. Filipino ones--at least the ones who speak good English--are usually hired by rich, edcuated, polished [fluent English-speaking] Saudis, and they are typically paid 800-1,200/month. But there are Filipino maids who earn much less than that, around 500-800.
As for Arabic speaking maids/nannies, the ones from the countries I mentioned, DO speak Arabic, but it is very broken, and highly colloquial. I am not aware of any Arab country from where maids are recruited. There are Ethiopian and Eritrean maids around, but I doubt they speak Arabic... maybe some do.
P.S. Maybe you can hire a Saudi woman to be your maid/nanny, and cause national upheavel!

Live-in maids are problematic. Who gets the Igama ? Who feeds her ? What about time off ?
Mind you I wouldn't mind a live-in maid myself ! Eritrean ? Ethiopian ? |

You will be able to sponsor a maid, but it will take some time (think months) to sort out the visa.
Salaries for live in maids go from SR400 a month to SR900, depending on the nationality and the abilities of the maid. At the bottom end you will get a maid who speaks neither English nor Arabic and whose acquaintance with household appliances has been at best at the government training scheme she was obliged to attend before getting the job.
Now bear in mind that there are considerable expenses involved. You will have to pay the ticket, and the fees to both the agency in the maids country and Saudi (one of the things the Saudi agency is obliged to do is to repatriate the maid in the first three months if she doesn't like it in Saudi) and so there are a fair amount of expenses upfront (which explain why salaries for an 'illegal' are much higher than for a 'legal' maid).
They are cracking down on those that employ illegal maids. If you do, then prepare to be the poster-girl for the crackdown, since it is much easier to fine, jail or deport you than a Saudi with contacts. |

I wouldn't want one cleaning my pad but I have to agree with your aesthetic judgement; they are sensationally beautiful women. The same goes for most parts of THE Continent. |

Watch out! One of our posters may soon be along to berate you for objectifying women and may order you to take yourself to a site catering to teenage boys and their fantasies.
I mean, we can't have any 'double standards' here, can we? |
