Joachim,

Really? I didn't know that. All I was trying to convey is that he had a thing for little boys but not little girls.

Actually that sounds a bit suss to me (what Joachim said) but I'm not about to look it up because someone might see me! Surely pervo freaks who like having it away with children are capable of gender preference or compulsion or whatever you might call it. Calling the guy a gay paedo doesn't seem wrong at all to me. I would have thought that rather than being an oxymoron it is in fact a way of defining which sex the paedo prays upon (desires). There are many rancid paedos f**ks out there who favour a single sex, be it their own or the opposite. Gay heterosexual is an oxymoron but why is gay paedophile?
So I have to disagree with Joachim, Sure it's insulting to gays but then paedos are insulting to all decent human beings, gay or straight. No?

Semantic arguments aside, the point I was trying to make was this: the pastor I mentioned was someone who could fairly be categorised as "blatantly immoral." Not only that, but his actions spilled over into his work.

If teachers' alcoholism or other problems come into class with them, it is unacceptable.

I'm Llamalicious, and I'm talking Nonce Sense <hammers nail through crab>

Point taken.
As far as the OP is concerned your pastor would have been fine to teach kiddies if he hadn't been so darn "blatant" about it. tchh. Unless of course he dared to have addiction problems as well as his Glitteresque tendencies.

[quote="drgonzo"]For some booze might actually make them a better teacher... more vocal and communicative anyway Razz

I knew some drunks who used to have orange juice and mansion house vodka in between classes...

Shocked

these are the most hilarious entries I've yet seen on the forums, and they beg the following question: Are Indonesians prone to a lot of gossip (and I mean the Major League)? A bule who occasionally brings home a strange girl....that may get back to his employers? Just curious. I spent some time in India, and everyone knows everything about you right away over there. I wonder how Indonesians compare.
Thanx,
H

Yes. Certainly.

Whether or not the employers would be bothered about the situation is another matter.

All the time, just yesterday the Indonesian staff at the office, were asking, isnt this person married, and why is he with so and so.

Other times a partner has come to the school with the teacher and the Indonesian staff will say... how can he be with someone that has such a "kampung face" and looks like a girl from the street.

How do you get rid of blatantly immoral teachers?

What right does a teacher who picks up prostitutes every weekend have to teach children and teenagers?

What right does a known drunk or drug addict have to teach children and teenagers?

Would you allow such people teaching in your schools in your home country?

I would think when teaching abroad, someone would keep themselves to a hire standard...

I see that this thread has been revived after a long dormancy.

I'll admit. I don't know much about teaching in Indonesia or the, apparently, large number of teachers who are drug addicts, drunkards, or Johns.

I have to disagree with with most of the posters on this thread who say it is no problem to engage in such activities and still teach, especially to children. If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, then it absolutely effects your work performance and an employer has every right to fire you. (Although they are better off trying to get you help). If you are engaged in soliciting prostitutes on a regular basis and your employer or students know about it, then that is absolutely bad for business, and your employer has every right to fire you.

4. Already do.
5. This is Jakarta - what standard?

Ridiculous post to say the least.

Well, I guess that settles it. Thank you for such a well-formulated assessment. Rolling Eyes

How is discussing the morality and integrity of a teacher even remotely ridiculous?

In this case, as in Jakarta, it is pointless because the entire society lacks any sense of social responsibility with immorality running through the entire system - great idea, nothing wrong with discussing it, but not going to happen here. no way. ever.
