It seems that some conversation schools, like Direct English...Berlitz...are
posting jobs now. Are the living conditions similar to the college jobs?
Also looking at the time line of getting hired in KSA... it looks very drawn out, so i guess I better get a kind of interim job (emailing CVs wont pay the rent!) thanks, tom

Downside with these places are that you will be working split shifts and all the hours on the clock. Get a college or university job and you will be working office hours. You then have more time to yourself, or time to do privates or moonlight somewhere (technically illegal but some employers turn a blind eye.)

Time scale for hiring is Saudi. It happens when it happens, by the Grace of God.

Direct English is a global chain of centres which provides training in conversational American English to professional adults. It works on a combination of interactive preparation materials and an intensive program of tutorials, conversation and multi-media classes.

Courses are tailored to suit the customer's available time. It puts the responsibility of learning English on the customer.

The working hours are not the greatest ( split shifts) but they are a rewarding experience if you like teaching adults.

The posting by Francoise looks to me like a blatant piece of advertising. I thought that was outlawed here ?
Come on Dave ! Get your moderators working !

good point Scott

hey francois, if i am in the first 100 people to get employed by you do I get a set of stay sharp steak knives?

I hate people who advertise themselves for free on other sites. Why don't you PAY Dave an ad fee for the effort of building this site rather than just stealing his space to make money yourself.

Before coming to the ME choose your employer with some care. Once in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, your employer (or "sponsor") has great power over you. You cannot legally leave unless he gives permission for an exit visa.

Having said that, there are still good deals on offer here. And Saudi can be a good place if you have the right attitudes.

Has this place stood the test of time?

Time has stood still regarding salary (worldwide inflation hasn't). Benefits have seriously deteriorated.
