Hello forum. Harry the hobbit recently read in one of the English papers an interestering article . It would appear that one is able to apply for longer work permits ,that is, longer than the usual one year one normally receives . It went on to state that as long as said employee stays with the same employer a three year work permit (inkamet) is possible . Furthermore, if after that the employee wants to do so he or she may apply for an even longer one even if one changes employer but one has to remain in the same profession .
Harry the hobbit was wondering if there were any fellow posters who had done such a thing and what (if any ) benefits and advantages /disadvantages there might be ?
Harry the hobbit looks forward to hearing any comments or ideas about this issue .

Someone correct me if I am wrong but unless you are self employed or a business you can not personally apply for a work visa. Are you asking about resident visas? Last I heard the maximum was 5 years for which you need 300 dollars in the bank for every month that you apply. This was true 2 months ago but as you know things could have changed.

there is a series of very informative articles in todays zaman about work permits. you can't get a 3 yr permit until you have had a 1-yr permit. also you can get a work permit if you own property or are married, though you still have to show you are working. you can also apply for one as self-employment under certain conditions. check out the articles under expat zone.

Harry the hobbit is offering a grovelling apology if any misunderstanding has been caused . Harry is refering to not work visas but inkamets or work permits .
Harry understood from the article that those fellow forum posters who wanted a LONGER annual permit could apply thereby doing away with the usual trip down to the local yabanci police to get the paperwork sorted . One usually finds that one has more important things to do . Furthermore ,it also allows one to make plans ove a longer time scale ,such as investing in a major expense and obtaining credit from a bank which may involve payments over a number of years .Safe in the knowledge one has employment for a minimum period of time allows one more freedom .
Harry was hoping fellow posters could offer any personal experience on this subject . Harry hopes noone has been caused any undue distress .
Harry offers many thanks to the Molly person ,it appears she has stumbled on the same article one happy go lucky hobbit did .

Nice idea Harry but only one problem ,if you want to borrow money from a bank they don't want to know unless you are prepared to jump through a lot of hoops just to buy a car or even god forbid a house ,sorry mate no chance unless someone on this forum says different .
