Survey finds HK teachers 'overworked'
2007-05-25 HKT 00:10
A survey has revealed that on average Hong Kong's teachers work up to 115 hours a week. The Justice and Peace Commission of Hong Kong Catholic Diocese has found that teachers work an average of 14 hours daily and teach around 27 classes a week. The Commission says it's concerned that teachers are overworked. And it's urging the government to implement small class teaching and reduce the amount of administrative work that teachers have to do. |

What that really means is they are at school for 115 hours a week. They may be working, sleeping, marking or mindless. They can't be thinking or we would have a decent education system |

When I read the original article I thought back to some of the posts here on this forum which described local teacher behaviour(s)...
115 hours per week?
as you write...they are not teaching/prepping for 4.79 days per week! |

Sitting at school with your head on your desk until 8pm waiting for the principal to leave, so you can too (because any leaving earlier makes you 'lose face') =/= working. |
