I have just completed a CELTA course but i really want to teach children. I know there is a two week extension course with cambridge called young learners but i can't find out all the course centres. Can anyone recommend where to find a list of the traing centres. Ideally i would like to do this in central or south america. The Cambridge website seemed to give test centres but not teacher training centers. Has any one done this course, and is there a separate website for jobs teaching kids??????

I did the YL Extension to the CELTA and found it useful. It's hard work though- 4 or so assignments and 6 observations in 2 weeks. It's useful if you are or thinking of teaching YLs.

This site should help you:

http://www.cambridgeesol.org/teaching/index.htm

IH usually have regular courses in Europe- but am not sure about Central/South America....As far as I know there is no separate site for jobs advertising teachers of YLs. They just specify this on normal job sites.

Hope this helps

fortunately, the CELTA is available near me (Vancouver, BC), however the CELTY (cert in english teach young learners) is NOT.

problem is, i want to teach kids, not adults.

is it worth bothering taking the CELTA with the Young Learner certificate or should i just take a month long trip to another city and take the CELTY?? inconvenient, but if it's worth it that much more to enable me to get better jobs later, i will do it....
