Lots of advice pointing in the same direction...the exit. I'd agree with no_exit except for one detail, give notice and find another job. I'd say find another job and quit on payday. If you give notice they'll just rip you off even more and cause further hassles.

To the OP:
Red Lobster is on the mark. If you give notice, you will never, ever, ever get paid and in addition to which, they will cause you no end of problems in advance with the PSB, etc.
Irregardless of what some of our more "pious" posters might write, follow Lobster's advice, Get paid and run to the next job. Think about TW's suggestion. There are a lot of jobs in Harbin and the Harbin authorities can be made amenable to having things sorted out if you find a new job in Harbin. I can attest to that for a fact.
One thing you need to learn in China is that if the dog bites you, then please bite back. I had a similar experience last week and got angry for something very similar and I had my arse kicked nearly back to Honolulu...until I found one or two major issues wrong in the contract that could and will cost the school about RMB 7,000, with no way out for the school, none at all. Thus, the score in the kicking game went rapidly back to 0 - 0.
Leave, do leave. I am only curious as to which school you are at in Harbin because somehow I think that it might be the notorious Starr one. |

sorry to intrude and i haven't read the whole thread exept this page where i've noticed your rather bold suggestion to quit instantly after the payday...not an honorable one, although i do see your points
again i haven't read the whole thing on here since believe it or not i am a bit busy, but if one's got the work permit arranged by the employer he/she might run into difficulties after accomplishing that one day notice/run suggested
by the way, we've got a few threads on similar topics and topics such as a "release latter from the employer", "changing jobs", work visas etc.
forgive me if i am wrong, but having a work visa stamp in your passport means that you have your obligations to one employer, doesn't it
peace to all of our knowledge, experience and views that we project on here
and
cheers and beers to the hard work that we put into our contractual agreements in China

Dear HFG - are you taking action against your employer with regard to contract violation - please could you inform us more about this process, since I believe it can be both a complicated and time consuming process in China, and can be rather difficult when the employer tries to "cultivate" so many "good connections" with the authorities. Please give us a fuller run-down of your experience - otherwise like so many postings that encourage action, but rather run out of steam when we ask for a full description of that action - it will sound a little empty to those of us who know the system out here. |

Dear vikuk,
I couldn't help noticing your fine approach above as well as some great experience that you have there with you. Have you been on the forums before?
You might be right with that "cultivating".
Peace to ya

Who are the "us who know the system out here"? Dealing with any process in any part of the world can be a complicated and time consuming process and that "fear" alone should not nor ever abnegate doing what needs to be done in terms of redress.
"like so many other postings that run out of stem when we ask for a fuller account" is an exceptionally judgmental posting from someone like yourself whose postings on this Board have been rather limited. Are "we" to be held to "your demand" for a "fuller account"?
Can you explain to me your detailed interest in having a blown-account of what I have written and might I ask you to provide me with the reason as to why it is of particular interest to you? Are you a newbie on this board? |

ohhh so I take it you don't want to write a fuller account about the action you took against your employer - never mind, just asking |

You are begging the issue that you yourself have raised. I have taken the opportunity to read all of your posts on this Board and there is only one that is substantive to any degree. Thus, I have no problem answering your questions, lots of laughs, as you write, but you will need to answer the questions that I have raised as the tone of the message was rather "noblesse oblige". As the French say, donnant, donnant. |
