After gaining a PGCE from the UK, does anyone know if it is possible to do the QTS year at an international school abroad?
Cheers! |

having looked into this extensively myself i can catagorically state ONLY if you choose to work in the isle of man or the channel islands (these count as overseas!) OR for the british forces schools.
you CAN work anywhere that will take you. whether it is wise to take a job at a place where they are prepared to take someone without post PGCE experience or where they won't want to/can't give you the support you will need as an NQT, is another issue. also remember that while there is no time limit on when you start your induction year (there is a time limit of 5 years on completing it once you start) it will limit your options in future. for example, if you decide to return to the uk and work in the state sector you will be required to do your induction year and start at the bottom of the scale again. and who's to say at some point down the line the international school will ask you to complete an induction year if you want to continue working for them.
me, i'm staying on another couple of years in the uk before i try to go back to LOS. |
