Hi,
I will probably be spending 1 night (2 days) in a hotel near the HK airport and was wondering if there's anything to do and see nearby? I don't really want to travel far from the airport with my luggage so I'm planning to stay nearby.

Thanks for any info.

Nearish the airport;

The Lantau Big Buddha and temple

The 360 cable car ride, a long cable car ride with scenic views and semi reliable cable car rescue service.

Diznee Land. A mini shopping center themed around Mickey Mouse.

Thank you very much. So it's not in the middle of nowhere. Glad to hear it.

Oh...I forgot to ask. Does anyone know if the airport has facilities for storing luggage while you disappear into the city for a night. I know they have Lounge and shower facilities (it says so on wiki).

Cheers

Yes it does.
There's one in the middle of the arrivals hall between arrival gates A and B. I seem to remember it's a bit hidden underneath some stairs.
Can't your hotel hang on to it for free rather than paying at the airport?

It's <1/2 hour by train to HK island Central, so don't feel like you way out in the boondocks at the airport.

Thanks everyone.

Well, I'd rather leave it at the airport cause I don't want to carry 30+ kilos around.
