If this guy alphabetagamma would stop his hostile tirade against U of Q maybe, we could get back to the useful information. Unfortunately, some topics were pulled because of a few rather spiteful threads on the topic .


I think most of us would like to know, alphabetagamma why you are so angry. What happened to you at U of Q? Something bad apparently because you've really got it in for the place. OK so there are some management duds, some surveillance, a tricky trio or dubious duo or whatever, but let's face it bud, almost every place has types like this.
One guy said things were improving. If they are, then let's hear more about it. Alphabetagamma, what is your problem? Let's hear what happened to make you so angry. There must be something good about the place. Some people wrote good things (unfortunately some of this info disappeared along with the topic because of one or two gripers and swipers.

So what is your big gripe? Is it really so bad? I'd like to hear some good things about the place. Like a couple of people said, those of us who are candidates want to get a balanced picture - the pros & cons (there was one but it got pulled - probably you went on one of your big swipes.

I'd really like to hear both sides of the situation. There must be some good management types. I also think attacking people for their origins is really hitting below the belt. The best teacher I've ever worked with came from Pakistan. Another guy I worked with from Peru speaks impeccable English. So what's your problem with foreigners? if they are qualified and are good teachers, big deal. Like someone already said, diversity in an EFL dept. is a good thing. You sound like you have a problem with foreigners. I hope you don't belong to some radical group that spouts blanco superiority. Why are you in EFL if you don't like foreigners? Seems strange to me.

Believe it or not, once when I criticized something on one of the boards here, she sent me a private message indirectly threatening me with turning me over to the authorities! She went on and on about how I must respect the local culture blah blah blah.

But does she heed her own advice/threats? NO.
