To me honesty is paramount in everything and that's why, despite some wise suggestion from you lots in here to just lie and put English Canadian schools for my elementary and secondary schooling, I decided it would be better to just tell the truth. Seems that these days, honesty is not highly regarded.... |
You need to learn that Japanese companies seem to be habitual liars. Lots of them appear to have no qualms about lying to their employees. Since you are applying to work with one of the worst offenders, fibbing about where you went to elementary school should be the least of your worries; sad as it may be. |

Damn,
seems I'm stuck because of my honesty...what a bummer...
Can I re-apply with them or if you've applied once, that's it?
What would the pros-suggest me to do in my case? I do really want to get to Japan.
Also, is the application process the same for the other big companies in Japan as it is for Nova?
Thanks in advance to all for their input and tips. Very much appreciated! |

Don:
I've only interviewed with two other schools: Amity (Aeon) and ALS. Amity is a lot more thourough than Nova, but they do not require you to put down where you went to elementry and middle school. As long as your high school and college diplomas are from English speaking institutions then you shouldn't have a problem. ALS interviewed me, but they are not hiring until January. Since I wasn't able to leave this week, she told me to reapply at a later date. |

Don, go ahead and apply again if you like. Worst they can say is no. Just be sure to have something different on your resume, of course, and learn to interview better.
As for whether all the big schools have the same application process, it is generally the same, yes. |

Glenski,
The thing is that I didn't even had the interview. The guy said it would be useless as the Japanese government/office would decline it as long as I can't provide them with an official letter from the school that the school was an English one....
Again, I am (sadly) feeling that I should have made up some local english school names.... |

Don,
I guess it's up to you to get that letter, but perhaps it's moot now. When is the next round of interviews? If you're ready then, who knows what might happen? |

Glen,
In Toronto, they interview every week twice (tuesdays and wednesdays). I guess I'll have to get them that letter somehow, someway.... |

One quick question to the pros and experts in here:
Which certification would be the most appropriate for me to get knowing that I probably won't make a career out of it but just to give me some teaching training, prepare me for teaching and help me get those jobs in Japan/Korea/Thailand and Argentina/Brazil?
Thanks. |

NOVA has their own 3 day training etc. You don't need any certificates. |
