Hey,everyone.
I have been living in China for the last two years and I cannot take any more. I MUST come to Thailand.

it is my understanding that I will not make a lot of money teaching in Thailand; could I get any Dj jobs?

Thanks.

Philster

If you're good, why not?

You could teach during the day and spin @ night or weekends.

Try these to get acquainted with the Thai DJ / club scene

I didn't think non-natives could legally work in such a field? I could be wrong though!

Go ahead. I know someone that is a p/t DJ for Gothic music. Bauhaus, Gary Newman, ect. ... .

I've thought of doing my gig at local thai song bars.

All about connections & knowing how to navigate. Speaking thai is a pre-requisite.

Just do the rounds of the club areas, like RCA theres heaps of clubs out there, lotta hip hop etc though. Soi nana has quite a few as well, wont take long to figure out where they all are, ask other djs, theres heaps of non native dj's here.

Good luck

Cheers

Hey Philster

I've been in China 3 years and I know how u feeling. I might get down to Thailand myself soon too.

I would say just take a big sack of quality vinyl with you and you'll be able to play. Whenever I brought toons down to Thailand I got to play. They tended to pay me with Chang Beer rather than Thai Baht but hey I wasn't complaining Smile

I've been toying with the idea of doing a Music Production course with SAE in Bangkok. I think that'd be a good way to meet people in the industry. But we'll see. I don't think my tinnitus will improve if I keep banging those choons in me ears!

Good luck.
