Im quite new to this field myself, but I dont like the sound of the 40 hour week. Its possible/Probable, that there will even be extra duties such as English Corner type activities on top of those hours.
I can only share with you my package...which is 3300 RMB for up to 12 hours a week, no other duties other than to make friends with the students and talk to them....(not an issue for me)
I share a 4 bed house with one other, amenities paid except phone. Flight home is paid, and 3 months and 2 weeks paid holiday.
Salary may be lower than some, but cost of living is possibly cheaper where I am due to a fairly remote area....but I came for the package, not the money.
TBH, I would rather be at home working a 40 hour week, than being in China working 40 hours. |

DUDE put your package away! We really don't want to see it...!
3300 for 12 seems low for sure but as a newbie it may suit you. At 12 hours a week you will have ample time to sight see and pick up some extra work if you seek and desire it.
Living with another may be good and may be bad depending on who's your roomie.
When you going? And what provance? |

That's actually not a bad rate at 68.75 RMB per classroom hour at all.
If you want, you can always ask them to give you two or four more hours a week for more pay. Ask for 3850 RMB for 14 hours a week, or 4400 RMB for 16 hours a week. For a newbie, 16 hours a week should be enough to keep you busy without being burned out. |

| A very good offer, there is definitely no doubt about that. The workload is light and even with the 2 hours of office hours which I'd suspect to be nothing that English corner and/or monitored lesson planning, you still have plenty of time to do a lot including moonlighting. The only question I have is: is this a joint-venture program/company/school you'll be teaching at, or is your contract actually with the university? |

Ursa Major,
Did you do a search here on Dave's about the schools? EF has had beaucoup comments over the years, most of them negative. The majority of the positive ones seem to come from company mouthpieces. Their pay-to-hours is weak and the extra required time scares me.
Take your time unless the law or an "ex" is hot on your trail. There are many good schools and good offers out there. Act in haste; repent at leisure. |

Hey TW, this contract is direct with the university,as it lists the name as party "A" on the contract and me as party "B" .
Ursa, Ii did not accept the EF School offer, . to many bad comments plus the heavy work load, low pay, and a pushy recruiter. I choose this university instead
