Honestly, if NOVA has placed you in a major city (and that doesn't mean just Osaka or Tokyo), the visa they'll provide is worth as much as the job placement. Even if they went under a month after you arrived, you'd able to look for work from Japan rather than your home country. This is a significant advantage, though I have to admit, if NOVA went ker-plooey, I can't imagine the number of EFL teachers wandering the streets looking for teaching ops. Dawn of the Dead type stuff, that.
