I left Mexico 5 years ago after 5 years living in the middle of the country. Since then I have lived in China, India, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. So 10 years on I am going home for a year. I can hardly wait. I liked all of the countries I have lived in one exception. Won't name it. It is just time to hear my own language, eat my own food, see my friends, open all the boxes in a friends basement, live without a lot of problems.
You just know when it is time to leave and go back, you just feel you need to go home.
Saying that I am going back to Mexico, the middle ofcourse to live after the year in Canada. |

Greetings from my oceanview office in Galveston, Texas.
I've been back in the States for two months and am appreciating the ease with which all matters are handled. I can actually call an office and get reliable info.
My wife and I started a bilingual preschool just south of Merida and it has been a big success. We focus on demonstrable learning and personal responsibility. Our evening shift is full of kids that go to the govt. school in the morning. They are far ahead of their peers.
I came back to do the paperwork necessary to bring my wife and sons up here. It will take 6-8 months.
I have gone back to speech pathology and demand a premium for being bilingual.
I went to Mexico on a small sailing yacht with plans to stay for 6 months or until the money ran out. I spoke 3 words of Spanish. That was 9+ years ago.
BTW, NEVER give notice!! They WILL fork you.
Newbies, don't expect to lay all plans before you move to Mexico. It doesn't work that way. Pick an area and go. Bring a grand or two and make it up as you go along. You're going to suffer either way. "That which does not kill us makes us stronger".
What happened to Foxandme????? |
