If you look at this posting from May 9th, United English won't hire anyone over 40. http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=14780

I know this sort of nonsense is tolerated in some Asia schools, but let's not feed that sort of ageist prejudice here in Mexico.

I just accepted a job with United English in Queretaro.

I interviewed with about six different schools in different parts of Mexico. After a very enthusiastic interview I emailed two different teachers currently working at United English. Both gave glowing reports of the school, its academic standards, the administration, etc. Furthermore, they spoke highly of Queretaro. Since that interview, I've spent quite a bit of time researching Queretaro and speaking to people that have lived there or traveled through. Without fail I've heard only positive things about the town.

As far as United English goes, they offer a pretty competitive salary, and every three months they evaluate your performance for a raise. They also arrange an apartment for the first month you are there, which you are welcome to stay in or change after your arrival.

I am aware that my knowledge is all secondary information, but as someone living in Honduras, it was the best I could do.

If anyone has any other advice/observations about United English, which has offices in other cities such as San Luis Potosi, or Queretaro, I second the inquiry for info.

If you have other questions, or if you are planning on working for them, let me know, it would be great to talk to someone else heading that way!

On the contrary, I have only heard bad things about United English in San Luis, it's one to avoid here.

I was in San Luis Potosi for 3 months. It is a lovely city. I really miss it since I arrived back in Canada.

Jean how are you?

Could you tell me more about your experience? What university in San Luis Potosi did you teach at? I also might be doing the same... in a private university... starting in Sept.. I'd like to know things like safety, amount of foreigners, night life, other cities to visit on weekends...Also the cost of living...is it possible to save???

Thanks so much in advance...

Julian
