|

I just recieved my NOVA info package, and I'm reading through the book, but was hoping for some advice from people in the know. First I was wondering if there is a bonus upon completion of the 1 year contract, since it seems to be standard, but I can't find a ref for it in the book. Also, does anyone know if it's worth it to take the JMA-MBA coverage or should I look for something here in Canada?
thanks for any help in advance. |

There is no bonus upon completion - you might get a slight pay raise if they decide to extend your contract (if you're interested in staying another year).
I would personally go with another insurance company - I've heard that it is sometimes difficult to get your claim money back from JMA...and the price is way too high. |

thanks for the reply, I'll look into another insurance carrier here. I just found the line where it says no severance will be paid at the end of the contract, so I guess i'll have to put some cash aside for a way home (or maybe see how much my family loves me and wants me back ) |

Yeah, do NOT go with JMA if you want any reasonable kind of accident insurance. Their maximum payout is 3,000,000 yen (around $30,000 US). That will not last you very long if you break both your legs and are stuck in hospital. I have a policy with Interglobal which costs about the same as JMA but has $2,000,000 maximum accident payout. I also used it to cover some routine dental work (fillings) and about 75% was covered. It's not perfect but it beats JMA. |
