tw, Can you please get rid of that horrid avatar? It looks like the guys our US and Candian soldiers died at the hands of the paid Chinese and DPRK goons in the years 1950 - 1952. You're neither funny nor attractive, merely insulting.

Brush up on your recent Chinese history, brsmith15 -- it's Lei Feng! He was only around ten years old during the Korean War.

I never saw that picture of Lei Feng before, and I don't know why,but I always assumed he was blonde and blue eyed. Wink

I think most public schools are more concerned with the current health status of the job applicant than the age itself. I think they feel that hiring an older person could mean frequent health problems resulting in escalating hospital bills and missed classes.

This is an interesting comment.

Recently, an international survey (of Western countries) has shown that older staff are sick and absent less often than younger staff. An average saving of $1500 per year was made in Australia, because of a lack of absenteeism or illness.

When I worked in Indonesia, it was not us oldies who turned up at school with raging hangovers and those who were sacked for various problems, were all under 30!

Oldies rool!

This posting is not intended to be discriminatory against anyone less than 40!

My bad. I apologize for my utter rudeness and stupidity. I wish I'd looked more closely at the photo because he was certainly one of the world's finest people.

I have no excuse; I stand ashamed.

Heck, Mr. Smith, it's still an ugly avatar. However, he has been a friendly chap on this forum as I have continually observed. Nice of you to humble up. Gentlemen, all.
