Isn't this an oxymoron? And why was the previous thread with this title locked? Aren't people allowed to disagree with each other anymore? Thought it was relatively lighthearted myself and the decision to lock it a but premature but there you go - what do I know!

That's what Atilla the Hun, Hitler, and Mussolini said, and look what happened to them!
Go figure!

Often before locking, offending messages are deleted. That is why one can't always figure out why something was locked. I don't blame the mods for not wanting to spend too much time babysitting one thread.
As to the question of oxymoron or not... in the gulf men do wear what we could define as a 'dress.'

I was being tongue-in-cheek, but thanks for your comment anyway.

The question is where do the Pope go shopping for his clothes.
It seems he got his robe made in the famous Gammarelli tailor in Italy, and it seems the Pope is following the happy clappy clothes fashion of the 21st century. |

I'm starting to get visions of them swapping stories of bad hair days, stories about make-up disasters and what face cream to use!
Is that the reason why Arab men tend to like their own company as well? (to not put too fine a point on it!) Because of their dress(es)? Or is that too much of a generalisation? After reading T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom, my view of Arab men was never the same again!

Yes, but is it a dress and matching funny hat?

| Well at least the current Pontifex Maximus has more dress sense than his predecessor ! I think some of his numbers are quite fetching ! |

Yes, the red shoes have been a hit with many...
And Balzac... wait until you catch those local fellows... in their matching white "dress and scarf" primping in the rear view mirror of their car at every stop light.

Back where I come from we have a saying: The Protestants have the best songs, but the Catholics have the best costumes.
Hard to argue with that... |

Sounds like where I am now. The locals here take every opportunity to preen themselves when e.g. they're passing a mirror in a mall or some other such public place. In fact, I laugh as every time they see a mirror, they can't help but stop to admire themselves. I've never met such a vain race of people but there you go: that's why people travel I suppose: to see the world and how other poeple live differently!
No doubt from what you say, arabs are no different.

Yeah, I've heard that expression before as I'm actually Irish. What part are you from? I had a pint of draught Guiness recently and it tasted wonderful: first pint of the black stuff in many a year!
