Is there anything they require you to bring?
I read here http://www.all-about-teaching-english-in-japan.com/Nova-Japan.html that I should bring my diploma, which seems rather odd... And you'd think they'd have told me about it in the email they sent confirming my interview date... |

I had to bring my original degree - they just looked at it and gave it back to me. They also sent me an application to complete and wanted me to bring a copy of my resume, two letters of reference or contact information for two references (not personal) and a photocopy of the ID page in my passport. This was in May/June 2006 so I'm not sure what has changed since then... |

When I had my interview with NOVA, they wanted me to bring my diploma AND my passport. Of course, they also mentioned it in the email they sent me... |

For Nova bring two letters of reference, your passport and diploma, or at least good copies of them. I couldn't get my diploma that day, but I had a clear copy. Make copies of all of it for them to. Make sure the copies are clear and don't cut of anything, even if it's just a little bit of the seal or the side of the page, get everything in the copy.
Otherwise dress clean, and go in with a positive demeanor. |

As for AEON (I'm basing most of this off my interview with AEON*Amity, but a friend of mine interviewed with AEON and his interview was almost identical to mine), all you really need to bring to the interview is:
A copy of your resume and the essay you wrote when you originally applied,
a filled-out application form that they e-mail to you,
the contract stipulation sheet (also should be e-mailed to you),
your lesson plan and any props you need to perform your 5 minute portion.
I'd also suggest bring a pen and a notepad to write on during the information session if you're normally someone who likes to jot things down. You also have to fill in a contact sheet once you get there, and at least in my group they didn't give out pens. It was a bit comical seeing 10 people share 2 pens.
AEON will only ask for your original diploma and passport scans after you are sent the contract to sign. |

I had brought my portfolio with letters and other sunshine to blow but I never really got the opportunity to show it off during the Nova interview. Maybe I could have been more forceful in making sure they saw it, but it didn't make a difference anyway. They did need to see my original passport and diploma though, but without either of those I think you would still be ok as long as you had arrangements to get them in the near future.
Dressing clean with a positive demeanor really is key for this interview. Do your best to speak clearly and try to think of a few questions as they go through the information section of the interview.
One part of the interview that stuck in my mind that I messed up on was when acting out a lesson, if the mock student didn't get the material I stepped up my vocabulary rather than making it simpler. It wasn't a huge issue then, but I'd just advise to keep in mind who the audience of your lesson is. One more thing that stuck out in my mind that I did was say goodbye to the second interviewer across the hall. I did it without thinking, but as I walked out the door of the one-on-one interview I saw her sitting in her office and just stuck my head in and said my thanks and goodbye. Anyways, who knows how much that helped.
Good luck! There really isn't much to it. Just try to relax. |

For NOVA I didn't have to bring my passport or Uni degree (fortunately about the degree - my uni gives out huge degrees you need framed). I'd just say to bring copies of whatever they asked (including things they asked you to send in previously - so your resume and application form at least). Also, bring a pen and paper and take a few notes on what they're saying. Don't take notes on everything (as that's a sign you didn't research beforehand), but take some notes (also, if you're bored taking notes will make you look less bored). |
