Thanks FGT! My sentiments exactly!
The mile is part of the British Imperial measurement system! Doh! |

| A mile is part of the British measurement system but they've adopted the metric system. |

| When in Britain you will always go into a pub and ask for a pint. "Excuse me landlord, can I have a half litre of your finest Ale" I don't think so. |

Though we do use some metric system thingamajigs..
centimetres, milimetres, metres, kilograms, tonnes, etc...
We have some imperial measurements too...
miles, pints, stone, inches, feet
Primarily, I think, we do it to confuse "the foreigners". |

Last year, my cornershop tried to start selling half litre bottles of milk!!!!!
Needless to say, it didn't last long! |

Yes Nomadder, and occasionally they actually contain a pint. |

But only occasionally do they contain beer.
If you're not ordering craft beers from microbreweries, Canadian commercial beer is as aweful as American.
PS--I'm Canadian |

How many of you really think the worse thing about teaching is the students? Try this experiment. Imagine you have been waiting 15 minutes and no student has appeared. Assuming you still get paid do you
A). Run around the building calling their names until you find one.
B). Sit quietly with your teachers guide and rollbook silently praying somebody will come and join you.
C). Sneak back to your office and hide.
D). Shout "Yippee" and run around the other classrooms to share this bit of good news-: No Students:- with all the other teachers.
I'm a "D" all the way. |

Me too. I love my job, really honestly truly I do, but I also love unexpected breaks. I don't get them in my job now. When I was in Prague (and I loved my job back then, too) the teachers used to sort of jokingly keep a tally of who got the most cancellations (always either business clients or individuals) per week.
