Completely Different:

The Chinese English Teachers' Classrooms:

1. "There's nothing the teacher can do"

http://www.56.com/u82/v_MTU2OTU0ODc.html

2. This is University? Somewhat Perverse?

http://www.56.com/u21/v_MTUxMjg2MTg.html

3. And Chinese Schools Want FTs With Experience and TESL?

http://www.56.com/u52/v_MTI1NjY0NDE.html

Everyone feeling a little bit better about their performance in the classroom?

Beware! Some of those little charges are aware of the disturbing, yet all too often silent, laugh called Chinese Education. Should you mindlessly, or consciously, follow the absurd chorus, like the recorded examples, you, too, might be exposed by the powerless Inquisitors' cameras.

Not at all: it's how the entire soporific system is revealed through the short videos which prompted me to post the links.

Read the comments under the introduction on a couple of the pages: those students who are not unconscioius at their desks are aware of ludicrous nature of (at least) Chinese English education, and some appear to have an inkling to expose the sleepy beast. Perhaps if enough "Headmaster" Li's and Wang's get nasty phone calls from fee paying parents after having watched these types of uploads, a small lurch forward in education will take place.

The hypnosis method, or maybe even extreme NLP, when they awake they can all recite the text from memory.

Aside from the one filming, I'd say very few. I am certain, though, that the "teacher" likes it this way, and is quite satisfied: uninterrupted pontificating abhors interruptions.

As for the students, this is proof that the English many of them manage to learn is entirely through self-study.

Shanshan, thanks for providing the vid links, the Monty Python reference, even (especially) for the Cleese pic.
In class this morning I was teaching the use of when to answer the when question. "When do you wake up?" "I wake up when class is over" got a few laughs. After class, the C teacher was asking me where I got that idea from. Thanks for providing the reference.
